Overview

Polycarbonates (PC) are a group of thermoplastic polymers containing carbonate groups in their chemical structures. Polycarbonates used in engineering are strong, tough materials, and some grades are optically transparent. They are easily worked, molded, and thermoformed. Because of these properties, polycarbonates find many applications. Polycarbonates do not have a unique resin identification code (RIC) and are identified as "Other", 7 on the RIC list.And the polycarbonate sheet is a popular and beautiful roofing materials in the building area.

PC Sheets Storage:

Stored on flat surfaces or wooden bearers with 100mm minimum bearing surface, placed at centre not exceeding 1m.

Make sure the place where you stored is dry, shaded and well ventilated area.

Use an opaque cover (not under flexible PVC coverings), tightly secured, protecting from wind, rain and sun.

Don't store under direct sunlight or without shelter from rain. Indoors torage is always preferable.

PC Sheets Installation:

Step 1: Use screws to attach the base connecting profiles to the roof beams. Make sure the screws not bend, tear or exert excessive pressure on the profile.

Step 2: Place the sheet on top of the base profile support edges, with the side covered by the printed protective film facing upwards.

Step 3: Slide the base under the sheet and attach it to the beam.

Step 4: Place the side spacer profile onto the roof beam and attach the cap to the base by hammering into place with a rubber mallet.

Kindly Remark:

1. As expandable, the drilling diameter must be 1.5 times than that of the bolt.

2. Do not use gaskets made of PVC.

3. PC Sheets can't be installed too tight because there will be thermal expansion and contraction which will adversely affect the installation.

From a growing perspective, polycarbonate provides a much more stable growing environment. All polycarbonate panels used in TIANSU greenhouses are made from two skins of polycarbonate – creating a double-glazing effect and outstanding thermal performance (10mm far greater than 4mm or 6mm Panels).

POLYCARBONATE… WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

It’s best to avoid polycarbonate with recycled materials. Why? Our harsh sun will discolour the panels and they’ll be yellow within 18mths! They breakdown and become brittle and will crack Some Polycarbonate floating around the marketplace has little to no UV protection!

Over the years, large importing companies have sold many hobby Greenhouses that hadn’t been designed specifically for the Australian climate and majority of the polycarbonate provided were made from 80% recycled materials and only 20% new materials.

WHAT IS UV layer? All imported Polycarbonate generally comes with a 20 micron UV protectant layer (cheaper recycled panels are known to have NO protection at all). However, the new UV layer technology is where the outside layer (side that faces the sun) goes through a Solar grade co-extruded process using a double layer equalling 50 micron UV protectant.
