In recent years, domestic PC production capacity has surged, and the situation of short supply is about to reverse in two to three years. In view of this, the PC Branch of China Synthetic Resin Supply and Marketing Association issued a warning of overcapacity on several occasions, and invited experts from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Petrochemical Planning Institute, the Petrochemical Federation and other relevant departments on December 18-19, 2018 to 9 PCs in China.        Zheng Hao, president of China Synthetic Resin Supply and Marketing Association, said that the association hopes to conduct a comprehensive survey of the overall development of the industry and market conditions through this survey, so that the industry can truly understand the actual situation of industrial development and investment risks. At present, the devices that are ready to be launched are almost all imported from foreign technology and equipment, and their own research and development and digestion and absorption capabilities are not high. In this case, blindly increasing production capacity is even more dangerous, and the result will inevitably lead to vicious price competition. Zheng Wei stressed that in the face of the development difficulties that the industry may face in the future, it is necessary for the state, local, industry organizations, and investors to find out the real situation and make rational investment decisions to achieve healthy and sustainable development of the PC industry. Specific policy recommendations and work measures are gradually being improved.

       Duan Qingsheng, secretary-general of PC branch of China Synthetic Resin Supply and Marketing Association, said that although the self-sufficiency rate of domestic PC production capacity is only about 50%, the industry is in the period of concentrated release of production capacity, and it is expected that it will rapidly develop into an oversupply situation within two to three years. The market will face the consequences of a large number of homogenized product competition, the company's profits are thin or even loss, the return on investment is low, and sustainable growth cannot be achieved.

For some companies to look at the new capacity to digest the way, Duan Qingsheng believes that the new application development is not a one-step thing, the emerging applications, the general use of tens of thousands to 100,000 tons, requires 5 to 10 years of incubation time; Importing is not an easy task. Domestic independent investment is mainly low-end and the opportunities for substitution are small. To open up the international market, the pressure is not small. In addition to the Southeast Asian market may have some opportunities, other areas are basically lack of highlights.

        Therefore, Duan Qingsheng said that in the face of the development difficulties that the industry may face in the future, it is necessary for the state, local, industry organizations, and investors to find out the real situation and make rational investment decisions to achieve healthy and sustainable development of the PC industry.
